Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate whether there were differences in the levels of anxiety and depression in university students during a ten-month period of social isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to know their perception of these symptoms. A mixed longitudinal comparative study was carried out that collected data on anxious and depressive symptoms in 30 psychology undergraduate students at two moments of the health contingency. A sociodemographic data and clinical history questionnaire was applied, as well as a digitized version of the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HARS), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) and an in-depth interview. No statistically significant differences within the sample in any of the variables evaluated were observed. However, a slight decrease was shown in anxiety and depression scores between the first and second evaluation.
