History

The Consortium of Mexican Universities (CUMex in Spanish) has the mission of contributing to a solid alliance for the quality of higher education in Mexico. To fulfill its mission, it creates academic spaces through four programs, including national chairs that are held annually in eight fields of knowledge, including Psychology.

The chairs have the main objective of consolidating collegiate work through updating and exchange between academics that promote the consolidation of academic bodies and collaboration networks, also promoting multi and interdisciplinary groups and collegiate academic production at national and international levels.

In particular, the CUMex Chair of Psychology “Julieta Heres Pulido” began in 2006. As part of its objectives aimed at strengthening the generation and dissemination of knowledge carried out in the universities that make up the consortium, and the idea of creating the Psicumex Journal arose in 2008. For this, academics from the universities that are members of the consortium undertook the task of designing it and convening a group of experts.

This work paid off in 2011, the year in which the first issue of the Journal was published, which has been published without interruption since then. In 2018 the Journal entered OJS.
