Abstract

The Compassionate Mindfulness Treatment for Health developed in Mexico has been used in clinical populations with favorable outcomes and it was adapted to an online version. The effects on the functional dynamics of the brain were analyzed from the electroencephalography recording in a pilot study with five participants. With this data, functional neural networks were constructed, and the connectivity of the resting brain was analyzed in terms of measures of complexity. An increase in connectivity and complexity was observed in slow wave networks (delta and theta), as well as an increase in specialization in the processing of information in fast waves (alpha, beta, and gamma). This suggests an increase in the attention and relaxation span in participants. This study is considered an innovative approach to the implementation of these techniques in the analysis of electrophysiological data that provide more information about the effects on the neuronal functional dynamics of this type of intervention.
